Did you know that April 19-25, 2020 is National Library Week? This annual event is when we celebrate the efforts and contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and to encourage library use and support. Visit the American Library Association for more information.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the American Library Association changed the focus of this next week to "Find Your Library In Your Place" from "Find Your Place in the Library". The new idea shows how libraries are offering virtual services and online resources when communities like West Bend need them more than ever.
As we prepare to celebrate National Library Week while not being open, watch for some fun stuff coming up next week on our social media!
Miss Terika will continue with her virtual storytimes on Saturdays and Wednesdays on our Facebook page. Watch for them here: https://www.facebook.com/WestBendCommunityMemorialLibrary/
Watch out for Hannah on Teen Tuesdays! Hannah will share a booktalk, random kitty factoids, and much more! Subscribe to our Youtube channel for a great time! Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClVeeEoABtdDHZS00XjBBVQ

Watch out for our digital READ campaign starting on Sunday featuring local leaders in the City of West Bend. You’ll see them in digital posters with their favorite books! We’re very excited about this series.
And one more thing…
In the April is also National Poetry Month! We currently have a Bookspine Poetry Challenge going on through Facebook. What is Bookspine Poetry you ask? See below:
Book Spine Poetry is the wonderful activity of creating your own poetry with books from home.
- Pull some books with interesting titles off of your bookshelf.
- Put them into a pile. Feel free to rearrange! Can you create a phrase?
- You can also center the titles around a theme, like in the poem above.
Voila! You have made poetry.

That’s all for now folks! Stay tuned for our blog post next week!
