Summer Reading 2020
Order Your T-Shirts Today!
We are now taking orders for Summer Reading Shirts! This year's theme is "Imagine Your Story," so we have a fun book dragon on the shirt! Shirts are a heathered turquoise color. Available in toddler through adult sizes for $9, and Women's V-neck is $10. Orders must be received by June 18 - print your order form here and return it to the library with payment.
We would appreciate if you brought exact change or a check (to prevent virus transmission) to pre-pay for your shirts. Shirts may also be ordered by mail, but pick up is at the library. Sorry we don't have a way to take payments online!
More information is coming soon!
Youth Summer Learning for Kids & Teens: June 15 - July 31, 2020
The librarians are hard at work on a socially distant Summer Leading experience! You'll be able to track your reading and activities to unlock badges and rewards! We will also have reading records and activities available to print from this page, and to pick up from the library. Please follow the appropriate distancing and sanitation guidelines if you do decide to pick up materials from the library.
Virtual Summer Learning will take place on a website called Beanstack. Once the link is live, we'll post it here and share it on social media. For now, keep an eye on this page. In the meantime, if you would like to learn more about Beanstack, visit their website.
The West Bend Library's access to Beanstack was brought to you by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services grant LS-00-19-0050-19.
There will be no in-person volunteering at the library this summer. Instead, there will be a separate Beanstack challenge (and printable/pickupable volunteer activity log) for teens and preteens to earn volunteer hours. Watch this space, or contact Hannah at firstname.lastname@example.org for more details as they become available.
Support Summer Learning
Though summer programming will look different this year - with virtual reading logs and livestreamed Family Nights - we still have performers, contests, prizes, and take-home activities!
Ordinarily, we contact local businesses to see if they can provide incentives and support for our summer literacy offerings. This year, we don't want to contribute to their concerns. That's why we're taking to the internet to ask for your support. If everyone chips in a little, we'll be able to host a safe, educational, and entertaining summer program for all ages.
Unfortunately, there's no way to donate to the library online. Please make checks out to the West Bend Library Children's Department. If you'd like to support us with cash, or with a gift card for an establishment that sells craft and/or office supplies, that works too! Just make sure they come to the attention of the Children's Department.
